Our renovation at this Vancouver Special was one of the first projects of its kind. At the time, it was rare for homeowners to invest the resources necessary to modernize a 1970s home. A trend that is now prevalent throughout Vancouver and Victoria.

A welcoming entry
Designed by Battersby Howat, the work responded to the family’s desire to update their interiors and expand the welcoming interior entry outdoors through to the street front. We integrated a modernist new door and anodized aluminium windows into the existing facade, finished with clean and linear balcony railings to match.
Contemporary landscape design
An asymmetrical procession of floating concrete pads creates a contemporary walkway boarded by textural planting and basalt rock groupings in the landscape. The palate of materials, including concrete retaining walls and steps with native plantings, harmonizes with the architectural features.
