James Bay Revival
This single-family residential transformation modernizes a dated 1920s Victorian Craftsman into a contemporary and spacious two-story family home. The project sits in Victoria’s James Bay neighbourhood, an area known for its lively waterfront, historic character, and charming heritage homes. Keeping heritage qualities played an important role in the project that focussed on building a forward-looking home where a young family can live, entertain, and grow.

Rebuilding a heritage house
The project was a complete residential renovation. We stripped it to the bones, raised the house, and poured a new concrete foundation. We updated every room in this three-bedroom home, including new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing. The result is an 1800 sq ft home where classic layouts meet contemporary design aesthetics spotted with rustic styling choices inspired by the traditional neighbourhood architecture.
Honeycomb tile
In the kitchen, some of the project’s most demanding construction solutions came from rerouting utilities. The resulting space is functional and clean, with a backsplash of running- bond subway tiles, all-white countertops, cupboard storage, and floating shelves. Similar details extend to the master bath, where black and white honeycomb floors set the stage for a custom vanity and claw foot tub.
